So I won’t be making any paper after all this year.
If you remember, I wanted to grow flax in two pots on my balcony, and to craft a single sheet of paper from flax.
I watered those pots every single day; but as you can see from the photo, I clearly didn’t water them enough. I also planted too many seeds, so the plants (flax and sunflowers) had to fight for nutrients amongst themselves, and it all turned into a bit of a disaster.
So, no hand-crafted paper, at least not this year. I’ll try again next year. No sunflowers, either.
I’m happy to report that I was indeed granted a study place at the University of Vienna’s Bachelor programme of English & American Studies for the academic year 2026/27 – and I didn’t even have to sit for an entrance exam. As predicted, fewer prospective students registered for the entrance exam than were allowed to apply for a study place, so everyone was admitted to the study programme. Courses start in the fall.
I’m also happy to report that I’m no longer typing like a maniac; I am now in the process of researching biographical information about 19th century authors who contributed texts to the magazine from which I want to choose texts to include in my upcoming book.
Progress!
