I spent the last few days redesigning my personal website as well as this website for my publishing business. I’ve been blogging for 15+ years, well before social media and smartphones became a thing. I was always happy with my free Twenty-Ten WordPress theme, but in this day and age, when everybody but me seems to access content on the Internet on their smartphone, the Twenty-Ten theme simply wasn’t working for me anymore. It was designed for PCs and laptops, not for small Smartphone screens; I tried to customize it, but wasn’t happy with the results.
I finally decided to choose a new theme for my two websites: MH Magazine Lite. It’s another free WordPress theme, and I’ve customized it to suit my needs.
I don’t intend to add a webshop to this website. I’ll sell my books either directly to readers on third-party platforms like Kindle Direct Publishing, or through brick-and-mortar bookstores.
Switching themes made me realise that I generally need to add more photos to my blog posts in addition to adding “featured” photos so they’ll appear as thumbnails next to the blog posts’ headlines. I’ll probably re-edit already published posts in the next few days and add photographs. Videos are next….
And the “featured” photo of this blog post? Just a photo of me 🙂
